Who pays for home modifications?
Most of our customers don't pay out of pocket. Here's how each program works, in plain language. Not sure which fits you? Call or text 929-442-2707.
- NJ-registered contractor, insured
- Free home visit
- Medicaid, VA & private pay

NJ DDD (people with developmental disabilities)
The state pays for approved home changes through its payment agency, Acumen. We are an approved Acumen vendor (#312504). Your support coordinator starts the request.
NJ FamilyCare long-term care (MLTSS)
If you have an NJ FamilyCare managed long-term care plan, your care manager can request home modifications like ramps and safer bathrooms.
New York Medicaid
New York Medicaid programs and waivers, such as OPWDD, NHTD and TBI, can cover home changes. Your care manager or service coordinator requests them. Our New York vendor enrollment is in progress, so call us and we'll tell you how your program can pay.
Veterans (VA grants)
The HISA grant (Home Improvements and Structural Alterations), Specially Adapted Housing (SAH) and Special Housing Adaptation (SHA) grants. We prepare the itemized quote the VA asks for.
Private pay
A clear, written quote before anything starts, with no surprises.
Questions people ask
How long does program approval take?
It varies by program. Approval usually takes longer than the work itself, and we tell you where things stand at each step.
Do you help with the paperwork?
Yes. We write the quote to the program's rules and work with your coordinator or care manager.
Free home visit, no obligation
We measure, listen and explain your options in plain language. Deaf or hard of hearing? Text us, or call through 711 or video relay.
